What is Radon?

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas. It comes from the decay of uranium that is found in nearly all soils. Radon gas is colorless, odorless, and without taste. The presence of radon in a home cannot be detected by human senses.

As the second leading cause of lung cancer, the EPA recommends every dwelling be tested.  If the reading of gas levels exceeds 4.0 Pico curies per liter of air, the EPA recommends remediation.  Generally, the cost of a remediation system is in the range of $1200 and the cost is usually paid for by the seller.  So, if your property has no record of recent machine-tested readings, then it is to your health and economic benefit to test for the presence of radon gas.

Electronic radon testing is the most accurate and fast way to get radon gas readings.  We use the best testing system available – Radalink.  These are continuous monitoring machines. The machine is placed for 48 hours either before your home inspection or after.  We place and retrieve the machine.  Neither you nor your broker has to be present. Results are available to your email account within 90 minutes of our retrieval of the machine (except on some weekend placements).
